For independent California practices

Inspection-ready. Every single day.

VetKeystone keeps your DEA controlled-substance records, CURES reporting, and USDA health certificates in one audit-grade ledger — so an unannounced DEA visit is a non-event. Built for independent practices. No cabinet. No consultant.

Why it matters

A DEA audit isn't about missing drugs. It's about your records.

You already know this matters — and that's exactly the problem. The fear is real, the rules contradict each other, and the binder never feels finished. VetKeystone's job is to make it handled, and boring.

You shouldn't get a cold sweat when someone says "DEA."

One system of record

Three regulatory regimes. One ledger.

Today, an independent practice stitches together a controlled-substance tool, a separate health-certificate service, and a periodic consultant — three vendors and a federal portal for one compliance posture. VetKeystone is the single ledger that covers all three.

DEA recordkeeping

Every Schedule II–V event in one immutable, audit-ready ledger.

  • Dispensing & administration log
  • Guided biennial inventory, dated & signed
  • Form 222 / CSOS reconciliation
  • Two years of records in a one-click audit packet
21 CFR 1304.11(c) · 1304.04(a) · Pt. 1305

State PMP / CURES

Dispensing reported to CURES on the required cycle — automatically.

  • Formats & submits on schedule
  • Alerts before a filing window closes
  • Built to follow each state's PMP rules
CA H&S §11165(i) · turnkey, not an "assistant"

APHIS health certificates

Interstate CVIs that know the destination state's import rules.

  • Certificates issued & submitted digitally
  • Destination-state rules built in
  • Every certificate retained & retrievable
USDA APHIS VS Form 7001 · the piece no one else bundles

No one else covers all three. Controlled-substance tools skip CVIs; certificate tools ignore controlled substances; the dispensing cabinets cost five figures and price out independents. VetKeystone is the ledger built for the practice that holds its own DEA registration.

How it works

Log it once. Stay ready forever.

Log

Capture at the point of care

Every controlled-substance dispense, administration, and waste recorded in seconds — reconciled against your physical counts, not pieced together at the end of the day.

Report

File CURES, automatically

Submissions are formatted to the state's spec and filed on the required cycle, with an alert before any window closes. No portal, no re-keying.

Prove

Inspection-ready, on demand

Two years of complete records — log, inventories, 222s, CURES — in a one-click audit packet. An unannounced visit becomes a five-minute formality.

The part no one talks about

When the numbers don't add up, you have one business day to explain it.

Diversion is usually internal — and roughly one in three practices has seen it. VetKeystone keeps an airtight, time-stamped chain of custody on every controlled drug, so a discrepancy is a question you can answer in minutes, not a crisis that threatens your registration.

Why we built it

Built by people who've stood through an inspection — not coders who Googled it.

VetKeystone exists because compliance shouldn't take a binder, a cabinet, and a $4,000 consultant. We're building the system of record we wished independent practices already had — calm, exact, and on your side when the inspector walks in.

Started VetKeystone on one conviction: staying inspection-ready shouldn't take a binder, a cabinet, and a $4,000 consultant — independent practices deserve one system that simply keeps them ready.
Your records, protected

Audit-sensitive data, handled like it.

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest, on US infrastructure
  • Immutable audit trail — every entry time-stamped, nothing silently edited
  • You own your data — export the full ledger anytime
  • No client PHI required to run the ledger (we're not a HIPAA workaround)
  • Daily backups · role-based access · witness verification

SOC 2 Type II — on the roadmap. We'll say so the day an audit is underway, and not before.

Straight answers

Questions practice owners ask first.

Doesn't my practice-management software already do this?

Most PIMS treat a controlled drug like any other line item — they don't produce a DEA-defensible disposition log that reconciles to your physical counts and survives an inspection. That's why several major PIMS hand controlled-substance compliance to a specialist tool rather than build it. VetKeystone is that specialist layer — plus the CURES reporting and CVIs your PIMS doesn't touch.

Which states do you cover for PMP reporting?

We're starting with California (CURES) and adding states deliberately. We only claim states we actually cover and have verified against the current rule — never a vague "all 50."

We're not being audited — why now?

DEA inspections are unannounced and increasingly driven by data analytics, and you can't backfill a two-year log after the fact. The whole point of VetKeystone is that you never have to think about it — you're simply always ready.

Is our data safe with a new company?

Encrypted, US-hosted, immutable audit trail, daily backups — and you own and can export your full records anytime. We never need client PHI to run the ledger. We'd rather be more defensible than the loose-leaf binder you have today.

How much does it cost?

Founding-member pricing starts at $299/month, with no long contract. The honest frame: it costs a small fraction of a single recordkeeping citation, and it gives your team back the nightly reconciliation hour. Book a review and we'll walk your actual setup.
